Causes and hazards of concrete segregation 2022-06-14 16:50:40

Causes of concrete segregation

The reasons for concrete segregation may be improper pouring and vibrating, the maximum particle size of aggregate is too large, the proportion of coarse aggregate is too high, the content of cementitious material and fine aggregate is too low, and the density of coarse aggregate is higher than that of fine aggregate. Or the ready-mixed concrete is too dry or too thin.

Hazards of Concrete Segregation

1. It affects the pumping construction performance of concrete, causing sticking to the tank, blocking the pipe, affecting the construction period, etc., reducing economic benefits.

2. Affect the apparent effect of the concrete structure, such as sand grains, exposed aggregates, and exposed steel bars on the concrete surface.

3. The strength of ready-mixed concrete is greatly reduced, which seriously affects the bearing capacity of the concrete structure, destroys the safety performance of the structure, and will cause serious rework and huge economic losses.

4. The homogeneity of concrete is poor, resulting in inconsistent shrinkage of various parts of the concrete, and it is easy to produce concrete shrinkage cracks. Especially in the construction of concrete floor, due to the segregation of ready-mixed concrete, the cement slurry layer on the surface thickens, the shrinkage increases sharply, and serious cracking occurs. It greatly reduces the durability of concrete such as concrete impermeability and frost resistance.
